  • Have Medicaid but need a dental provider for your child? Call Texas Health Steps at 1-877-847-8377 (toll free) for help locating a dentist. (Texas Health Steps is Medicaid's comprehensive and preventive child health service for children from birth through 20 years old.)
  • Have CHIP but need a dental provider for your child? Contact your CHIP plan provider for help locating a dentist (Seton CHIP at 421-5672 or Superior CHIP at 800-783-5386). Click here for the state government dental provider directory online, or call the Provider Call Center at 1-866-828-5891, Monday-Friday 8:00 am to 7:00 pm.
  • Not eligible for Medicaid or CHIP? Apply for MAP and utilize the Community Health Center Dental Clinics. For more information on how to apply for MAP, go to the website.
  • Have you been denied MAP? Contact Manos de Cristo for reduced rate dental care (blue MAP cards accepted)
  • Want to go to a dentist then pay off your bill over 12 or 18 months at 0% interest? Apply for “CareCredit” by visiting the website and entering your zip code to find a provider that takes this form of payment.
  • Interested in discount dental plans? Go to the website and type in your zip code area for a list of dentists within 5 miles who provide services with discounts of 15-50% of the usual fees for a cost of $120-$160 per year for a family.

  • Community Health Centers (CHC) Dental Clinics, City of Austin - Accepts all MAP card holders, even if you are a new patient to CHC. Accepts Medicaid only if you are under 21 years OR if you have been a medical or dental patient at CHC within the last year.

    Services Provided: routine and emergency exams, teeth cleaning, fillings, extractions, dental sealants, limited root canal treatment and dentures. Does NOT provide crowns, orthodontics, implants or bridge treatments.
    Costs of services: Medicaid, CHIP, Medicare, MAP, and sliding scale based on income (if not eligible for MAP).
    New patients must call elgibility services to schedule an appointment to determine financial elgibility for MAP, sliding scale self-pay and other programs.
    Established patients call clinic directly to schedule appointments. MAP pink card holders pay $10 co pay. MAP blue card holders pay $10 co pay and an additional amount determined by what percentage their card pays.

    Cost: All services offered at a discounted rate—roughly half of typical cost (costs are done on case-by-case basis, but usually run from about $60 to $100).
