Austin Area Medicaid, Medicare and Low-Cost Medical Providers

  • MAP- Medical Assistance Program - MAP provides access to health care through networks of established providers for Travis County residents who meet eligibility criteria.
  • Community Health Clinics - CHC's at various locations around Austin provide medical care on a sliding scale Travis County residents may qualify for MAP if:

    • Their family income is at or below 100% of the Federal Poverty Index Guidlines (FPIG), they have no other health care coverage (such as Medicaid or Medicare), and they fall within asset guidlines.
    • They are disabled and your income is at or below 200% of the FPIG, they have no other health care coverage (such as Medicaid or Medicare), and they fall within asset guidlines.
    People with Medicaid or Medicare will not qualify for MAP

    People who do not qualify for MAP can visit Community Health Clinics and pay on a sliding scale basis.

  • Academy of Oriental Medicine at Austin - has a student intern clinic that offers low cost accupuncture on a sliding scale.

  • Partnership for Prescription Assistance - nationwide clearinghouse which matches uninsured or low income people with 475 pharmaceutical companies for free or low cost medications. Call 1-888-477-2669 or visit www.pparxtx.org to see if you are eligible.
  • HealthWell Foundation - A non-profit organization that helps people pay for their prescription drugs for specific diseases. Visit their website or call 1-800-675-8416 to see if you are eligible.
  • Patient Advocate Foundation Co-Pay Relief - Program that helps insured patients who financially and medically qualify pay for their prescription medications. Call 1-866-512-3861 or visit their website.
